Animal Games Database
September 2020 – Present
This project combines my interests in video games and animals. It's a website database that lists all the video games that feature animals as playable characters, including mythical animals like dragons. It uses an original pink theme I created. The goal was to see how well I could create a "fake database" using the Jekyll static site generator.
Former Links Page and Current Portfolio
August 2018 – April 2021
In 2018 this page used to only be a simple replacement for the linktr.ee service as a page of my most important website links, but in 2020 I realized it could be a good minimalist portfolio website. My favorite additions to this version of my portfolio are the flippable project cards and the automatic dark theme.
Hide YouTube Metrics Firefox Add-on
May 2019
This is my first browser extension for Firefox that hides all metrics (number of subscribers, likes, views, etc.) from the YouTube website on desktop and mobile for a more stress-free user experience. The add-on uses JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Vplay: A Mobile Edutainment Platform
May 2019
This is the website I made from scratch for my 11-person ITI Capstone class start-up project. This website is one page and incorporates CSS animations, embedded content, and modal boxes. The product was an educational augmented reality gaming platform for young children with a physical toy subscription box component. I also helped create flowcharts for the app and some game designs.
Blue Jay: A Guide to Surviving Cyber Harassment
April 2019
This was my DCIM minor capstone project, a website guide all about cyber harassment and how to survive it, including helpful resources and the stories of some notable victims. As a joke, I replicated the design of the Kiwi Farms forum, a site infamous for being labeled by media outlets as "the Web’s biggest community of stalkers".
My Fifth Portfolio
April 2019 – June 2020
My fifth portfolio is an original design made with HTML and CSS. The portfolio section is in a grid of four columns. Each project photo has a short summary below it. There are also multiple pages that can be accessed through a standard navigation bar. It was an attempt at minimalism with function over form, but it eventually looked too cluttered for my taste.
WordPress to Static Blog Conversion
July 2018 – 2019
This old blog was originally a WordPress child theme of the Savona theme by Optima Themes, but I recreated the entire website from scratch into a static website generated with Jekyll and made a few modifications. I no longer use this blog, but it was an ambitious project that showed me I enjoy developing websites more than writing blog posts!
My Fourth Portfolio
Summer 2018
My fourth portfolio is an original design made with HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, some Javascript, and Jekyll. This website was designed to be a dark theme and with responsiveness in mind. My projects are lists in a single column and text is minimal. This is also when I started having fun with tooltip styling and bright colors.
Phony Reality 3D Game
May 2018
This is the second game I made in the Unity game engine. It's a 3D walking simulator with simple fetch quests. The goal of the game is to find your smartphone in a strange surreal world. It was fascinating to learn more C# for this project and how object-oriented programming works in a game with 3D assets.
Metalloid 2D Game
March 2018
This is the first complete game I made in the Unity game engine with a classmate. This was our midterm project for a Game Design course my junior year of university. It's a 2D platformer shooter set in space with alien enemies, and the third level is a side-scrolling asteroids game where the player navigates the ship to the end while dodging and shooting asteroids.
My Third Portfolio
Spring 2018
My third portfolio was an original multi-page design made with HTML and CSS and was the first of my portfolio sites to use the Jekyll static site generator. The layout is two panels, one with a fixed featured image, and the other with scrolling content. The navigation is in a Z shape. The idea behind this design is that the website is a "home" with things on the inside and a "window" to the outside.
JoboGraphic Web Application
December 2017
I made this web application with four teammates as the final project for our Advanced Web Design Technologies course. Use it to discover and get directions to jobs and companies. It uses four APIs, Javascript, jQuery, AJAX, and PHP. My responsibilities included the Google Maps Embed API, the Github Jobs API, styling, and debugging.
Haunted Mansion Text Adventure Game
December 2017
This second game that I made in the Java programming language is a text adventure, something that I've always wanted to make. It was the final group project for my Object-Oriented Programming course in university. The goal of the game is to escape a haunted mansion through exploration using only text. I was happy to learn more advanced Java concepts to cross this item off my bucket list.
WriteKnight Website
December 2017
This is the website I made for my team's project in our Management in Technological Organization course. The website is a simple one-page website using the template from my first portfolio website. The product is a mobile app to help freelancers file their taxes. I also designed the icon for the logo.
My Second Portfolio
Fall 2017
My second portfolio was an original multi-page design made with HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and jQuery. I had fun trying to add creative flairs to this one. When the website loads, you must click an arrow to reveal my portfolio items and a minimalist white theme. I also made a handmade image toggler of example commissions. I might go back and implement Jekyll on this one to be more space-saving.
My First Portfolio
Summer 2017
My first portfolio was a one-page design made with HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and Javascript. I repurposed a design by Tania Rascia that was freely available for use as a template on her Github. I used some simple jQuery for the projects portion of the website. This was the first stepping stone to making my own complete personal website from scratch.
Archive.org Landing Page Redesign
Spring 2017
This final group project was made with two teammates for my first university Web Design course my sophomore year. The goal was to recreate three page of the Metropolitan Museum's portal on Archive.org and redesign the landing page. This was the first time I hard-coded a page since my senior high school web design class, and using CodePen.io I discovered I really enjoyed using HTML and CSS.
Blackjack Text Game
December 2015
This was my final project for my first computer science course in university. It's my third completed game and my first game made in the Java programming language. It's simply Blackjack but in a text-based form. I was proud of this project at the time, but it could definitely be rewritten. Either way I saved this as an important milestone in my programming journey.
Tic Tac Toe Game
January 2014
This was my first complete game made in the Visual Basic programming language and the final project for my very first programming class, which I took at the beginning of my junior year of high school. It helped me understand programming and game design loops. It's a simple Tic Tac Toe game with a twist: there are two extra game modes. This version of the game has some bug fixes.
